Labour Market Analysis and Policies

Designed for those who may be involved in the delivery or assessment of policies and programmes to improve the operation of local or regional labour markets, it will also assist those who wish to explore such labour market issues. It covers the following areas:

  • Methods - A basic grounding in analytical concepts, identifying the influences on demand for and supply of labour at the micro-economic level.
  • Models - Sources and analysis of labour market data, and how local or regional labour markets are performing.
  • Applications - Some current issues affecting labour market policies and programmes being delivered as spatial initiatives, with guidance on how such initiatives can be constructed to provide outcomes that can be evaluated.

Assessment will be by two written assignments of 3000 words each, each counting as 50% towards the overall mark.
