Schedule and Implementation
The next deadline for receipt of application forms for new students is 1st July 2010 with payment for first module by 5th September 2010. For further information click Application & Enquiries
Modules commence at the start of academic terms, in either September, January, or May each year. This allows students to pace their own learning schedule, taking either three modules a year, or alternatively spacing them out over a longer period to suit their needs. Teaching for each module lasts for approximately 16 weeks followed by an exam.
Each module is delivered via a study pack to the student, containing the following:
- Core teaching materials
- Assignments and essential reading
- An overview of key themes and issues pertaining to the module
- Relevant literature, reading and other source material
Additional support comes from the course’s Academic Programme Manager (APM) who will provide reading lists and a guide containing staff contact addresses, telephone numbers and other useful information.
All students have a module tutor, a qualified lecturer at the university supplying the module to give help and advice on the course. Students need regular access to the internet - e-mail is the primary contact point for all course information and discussion between tutors and students.
Standards are high and the work is demanding. Each module can take as much as 200 hours of concentrated effort, but those that stay the course will find that the effort is worthwhile. The course gives contact with others who share your interest in economic development and the learning process is enjoyable and intellectually stimulating.
During each Certificate module, students are required to attend two free seminars usually held at one of the participating universities. Travel costs to this event and subsistence are not covered by course fees.
