Economic Development Distance Learning Consortium
Economic Development Distance Learning Consortium

Neil Cuttell

I applied because I wanted to know more about economic development from the theory through to practical application. Having been involved in a very large challenging regeneration project covering many aspects including the creation of an industrial estate, a community centre, a pedestrian complex, and many other projects I wanted to broaden my understanding and skills of economic development.

Having completed all 3 stages of the course I believe I am a wiser and more balanced person in carrying out everyday work. It has also has helped greatly in my career both giving me new skills and opening doors for promotion – I moved into a new job during my studies.

The breadth of the course covering a wide field of topics was very useful. I particularly enjoyed the modules covering property development and the knowledge brought out on development appraisals. The diversity of the topics and the lecturers with their different approaches was very stimulating and thought provoking.

Distance learning was so practical alongside continuing my everyday work allowing flexibility in planning study time. The workshops were also invaluable in preparation for the modules and it was good to meet other students and share experiences. I really enjoyed my time on the courses.
