I took this course because I wanted to continue to develop my skills and understanding in areas which would compliment the projects I was involved with in business. I started my career in export sales, moving to software consultancy, and then into management and for the last 8 years have been concentrating on development concepts, opportunities and projects.

As Managing Principal at the Luebeck Business Development Corporation I have worked on a number of complex development concepts and projects initially focussed on Media and IT. More recent projects involved regional development alternatives in the Baltic Sea region, opportunities for private-public partnerships for the food processing industry in Luebeck and promoting interregional co-operation of European Ports through optimising regional integration.

Completing the course over a period of 4 years I found the modular approach very practical and easy to fit in with my work commitments. In particular for my MSc project I was able to choose a topic which directly related to one of my work projects on the food processing industry.

Being based in Germany I found the distance learning process a very good way to access a wide variety of experts covering a broad range of activities and topics looking at both the theory and reality of live projects.
