I applied to the EDDLC after being out of the education system for some time, and I wanted a qualification that would demonstrate both my practical and theoretical knowledge of Economic Development when I began moving jobs within the field. The qualification has gone on to prove very useful in my subsequent employment with planners and those working on infrastructure development, and has been invaluable in helping to understand some of the constraints and opportunities that exist in formulating Economic Development projects.
The flexibility of the EDDLC has really been a key point in my development as a student; since starting the course I have changed jobs twice, got married, had a baby and relocated from London to the coast, which has meant that my time has been very important to me. This hasn’t been a problem with the course as I have been able to suspend study during busy periods and pick it up again when I have more time, leaving me to concentrate on other areas in my life.
I had also been out of education for a long time and was pleased to be provided with a wealth of information to start the first three modules, helping me back into study at a suitable pace. Also having the programme split into three parts helped to make the journey towards a Masters less daunting, with a formal accreditation at each stage it meant that you could choose the level you wished attain (PGCE, PG Dip or Masters).
All in all, using the EDDLC to attain the accreditation I was after (as well as utilising it to suit my own needs) couldn’t have been easier. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone with an interest in Economic Development.
