Richard Farnell - Coventry University

Module Leader: Working with Communities

Professor of Neighbourhood Regeneration at Coventry University, Richard is also a member of the management board of the Institute of Community Cohesion based at the University. In addition to his roles at the university, he occupies the role of Canon Theologian of Coventry Cathedral and is a Chartered Town Planner.

Richard can also be seen active in other roles such as chairman of the Funding Committee of the Church Urban Fund and Chair of Midland Heart Ltd, which has over 32,000 homes managed in the Midlands, and a substantial development programme combined with a central commitment to investment in neighbourhoods and communities.

Over the last fifteen years, Richard’s research has focused on neighbourhood regeneration and community development, frequently being involved in research investigating relationships between public sector agencies and the community. Richard is a National Adviser to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation on ‘Faith and Cohesion’ and is currently engaged in research for the London Borough of Lewisham on the Council’s relationship with faith communities.
